Dear Agony - Breaking Benjamin

I have nothing left to give
I have found the perfect end
You were made to make it hurt
Disappear into the dirt
Carry me to heaven's arms
Light the way and let me go
Take the time to take my breath
I will end where I began

And I will find the enemy within
Because I can feel it crawl beneath my skin

Dear Agony
Just let go of me
Suffer slowly
Is this the way it's got to be?
Dear Agony

Suddenly
The lights go out
Let forever
Drag me down
I will fight for one last breath
I will fight until the end

And I will find the enemy within
Because I can feel it crawl beneath my skin

Dear Agony
Just let go of me
Suffer slowly
Is this the way it's got to be?
Don't bury me
Faceless enemy
I'm so sorry
Is this the way it's gotta be?
Dear Agony

Leave me alone
God let me go
I'm blue and cold
Black sky will burn
Love pull me down
Hate lift me up
Just turn around
There's nothing left

Somewhere far beyond this world
I feel nothing anymore

Mary & Max

He enjoyed answering her questions and solving her puzzles like:
Do sheep shrink when it rains?!
And if a taxi goes backwards does the driver owe you money?!

Max Jerry Horovitz: It would be good if there was a Fat Fairy. She would be a bit like the Tooth Fairy but would suck out your fat.

Max Jerry Horovitz: Humans were endlessly illogical; why would they throw out food when there were children starving in India? Why did they clear the rain forests when they needed the oxygen?
And why did they create bus time tables when they never ran on time?

Max Jerry Horovitz: I have also invented some new words. "Confuzzled", which is being confused and puzzled at the same time, "snirt", which is a cross between snow and dirt, and "smushables", which are squashed groceries you find at the bottom of the bag. I have sent a letter to the Oxford Dictionary people asking them to include my words but I have not heard back.

Max Jerry Horovitz: After much thought, i think i have a solution to your teasing. Tell Bernie Clifford that your birthmark is made of chocolate which means when you get to heaven you will be in charge of all the chocolate! This of course is a lie, i don't like lies, but in this case i think it would be of a benefit. I wish I could be in charge of all the chocolates but of course i cannot because of my atheism.

Book Extracts

Go to your fields and your gardens, and you shall learn that it is the pleasure of the bee to gather the honey of the flower, but it is also the pleasure of the flower to yield its honey to the bee.
For to the bee, a flower is a fountain of life.
And to the flower, a bee is a messenger of love.
And to both, bee and flower, the giving and the receiving of pleasure is a need and an ecstasy.

The Show - Lenka

I'm just a little bit caught in the middle
Life is a maze and love is a riddle
I don't know where to go, can't do it alone
I've tried and I don't know why

Slow it down, make it stop or else my heart is going to pop
Cause it's too much, yeah it's a lot to be something I'm not
I'm a fool out of love 'cause I just can't get enough

I'm just a little bit caught in the middle
Life is a maze and love is a riddle
I don't know where to go, can't do it alone
I've tried and I don't know why

I'm just a little girl lost in the moment
I'm so scared but I don't show it
I can't figure it out, it's bringing me down
I know I've got to let it go and just enjoy the show

The sun is hot in the sky just like a giant spotlight
The people follow the signs and synchronize in time
It's a joke nobody knows, they've got a ticket to the show

Yeah, I'm just a little bit caught in the middle
Life is a maze and love is a riddle
I don't know where to go, can't do it alone
I've tried and I don't know why

I'm just a little girl lost in the moment
I'm so scared but I don't show it
I can't figure it out, it's bringing me down
I know I've got to let it go
and just enjoy the show
Just enjoy the show

The Voice Within - Christina Aguilera

Young girl don't cry
I'll be right here when your world starts to fall
Young girl it's alright
Your tears will dry, you'll soon be free to fly

When you're safe inside your room you tend to dream
Of a place where nothing's harder than it seems
No one ever wants or bothers to explain
Of the heartache life can bring and what it means

When there's no one else, look inside yourself
Like your oldest friend just trust the voice within
Then you'll find the strength that will guide your way
You'll learn to begin to trust the voice within

Young girl don't hide
You'll never change if you just run away
Young girl just hold tight
Soon you're gonna see your brighter day

Now in a world where innocence is quickly claimed
It's so hard to stand your ground when you're so afraid
No one reaches out a hand for you to hold
When you look outside look inside to your soul

Life is a journey
It can take you anywhere you choose to go
As long as you're learning
You'll find all you'll ever need to know

be strong
You'll break it

hold on
You'll make it

Just don't forsake it because
No one can tell you what you can't do
No one can stop you, you know that
I'm talking to you

Young girl don't cry I'll be right
here when your world starts to fall...

Say Hello - Rosie Thomas

Garfield of the day -06-

He's Just Not That Into You!

Every movie we see, Every story we're told implores us to wait for it, the third act twist, the unexpected declaration of love, the exception to the rule.
But sometimes we're so focused on finding our happy ending we don't learn how to read the signs.
How to tell from the ones who want us and the ones who don't, the ones who will stay and the ones who will leave.
And maybe a happy ending doesn't include a guy, maybe... it's you, on your own, picking up the pieces and starting over, freeing yourself up for something better in the future.
Maybe the happy ending is... just... moving on.
Or maybe the happy ending is this, knowing after all the unreturned phone calls, broken-hearts, through the blunders and misread signals, through all the pain and embarrassment you never gave up hope.

Quote of the day -19-

"Education is an admirable thing, but it is well to remember from time to time that nothing that is worth knowing can be taught."
Oscar Wilde

When you get all the knowledge yet lack the experience...it simply feels like you still got nothing!
And this sure applies also on everything in life...not only education matters.

Quote of the day -18-

"I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they're right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust noone but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together."
Marilyn Monroe

Nowhere Man - The Beatles

He's a real nowhere man,
Sitting in his nowhere land,
Making all his nowhere plans
For nobody.

Doesn't have a point of view,
Knows not where he's going to,
Isn't he a bit like you and me?
Nowhere man, please listen,
You don't know what you're missing,
Nowhere man, the world is at your command.

He's as blind as he can be,
Just sees what he wants to see,
Nowhere man can you see me at all?
Doesn't have a point of view,
Knows not where he's going to,
Isn't he a bit like you and me?
Nowhere man, don't worry,
Take your time, don't hurry,
Leave it all till somebody else
Lend you a hand.

He's a real nowhere man,
Sitting in his nowhere land,
Making all his nowhere plans
For nobody.

Quote of the day -17-

"I have a history of making decisions very quickly about men. I have always fallen in love fast and without measuring risks. I have a tendency not only to see the best in everyone, but to assume that everyone is emotionally capable of reaching his highest potential. I have fallen in love more times than I care to count with the highest potential of a man, rather than with the man himself, and I have hung on to the relationship for a long time (sometimes far too long) waiting for the man to ascend to his own greatness. Many times in romance I have been a victim of my own optimism."
Elizabeth Gilbert (Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman's Search for Everything Across Italy, India and Indonesia)

The Notebook

Noah: Would you just stay with me?
Allie: Stay with you? What for? Look at us, we're already fighting.
Noah: Well that's what we do, we fight. You tell me when I am being an arrogant son of a bitch and I tell you when you are a pain in the ass. Which you are, 99% of the time. I'm not afraid to hurt your feelings. You have like a 2 second rebound rate, then you're back doing the next pain-in-the-ass thing.
Allie: So what?
Noah: So it's not gonna be easy. It's gonna be really hard. We're gonna have to work at this every day, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, for ever, you and me, every day. Will you do something for me, please? Just picture your life for me? 30 years from now, 40 years from now? What's it look like? If it's with him, go. Go! I lost you once, I think I can do it again. If I thought that's what you really wanted. But don't you take the easy way out.
Allie: What easy way? There is no easy way, no matter what I do, somebody gets hurt.
Noah: Would you stop thinking about what everyone wants? Stop thinking about what I want, what he wants, what your parents want. What do you want?!

Pages From My Diary -01-

Since spring started, Teddy's been freaking out so often from the noises of the wind and God knows what else!
He’s been spending all his days and nights hiding and shaking. And no matter what we try to do to calm him down and make him feel secure, we miserably fail.
Yesterday at dawn, Teddy showed up and sat with me in the room uncertain if he’s doing the right thing. When I got up and headed to the kitchen, he came after me, I only noticed when he wrapped his tail against my legs over and over. I kept moving from my room to the kitchen and he unlikely kept following me here and there. And finally when I sat down, he rested in front of me observing my next move. I couldn’t help it, so I rested beside him on the floor and started to stroke and play with him.
I know that all of this sound pretty normal, but that’s not the way Teddy is. He’s the kind of cat that likes to be left alone most of the time, that doesn’t like to be touched much. His fear of people, noises, even cats sometimes makes him the most unsociable cat I’ve ever seen.
Yesterday was unusual of him. It made me feel that even though he’s always not around, he’s always pulling away, he’s always hiding and wants to be left alone, all of this attitude has been always out of fear which he can’t control, maybe he’s too weak to control it, but after all he’s a cat which would make him at this point almost helpless.
Yesterday he wanted my company and was dying for me to play with him. He needed my affection and passion, he needed lots of feelings he’s been missing coz he’s always alone.
I was dying to sleep, but never wanted to leave him alone at this moment. I stayed with him till as expected some loud wind blew, and he was all freaked out again and took off running for some place to hide.

Marley & Me

"A dog has no use for fancy cars, big homes, or designer clothes. A water log stick will do just fine.
A dog doesn't care if your rich or poor, clever or dull, smart or dumb. Give him your heart and he'll give you his.
How many people can you say that about?

How many people can make you feel rare and pure and special?

How many people can make you feel extraordinary?
"

Pan's Labyrinth

----The story of a young girl who travels with her pregnant mother to live with her mother's new husband in a rural area up North in Spain, 1944. The girl lives in an imaginary world of her own creation and faces the real world with much chagrin.----

The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference."

Robert Frost

Say It With a Kiss - Billie Holiday

Let me hear you say it
Say it with a kiss
If you mean that look I've seen
Say it with a kiss
There is wine and candle shine
And music in your lips
Music in the tops
Of your fingertips
Words may not convey it
Say it with a kiss
And your look might speak a book
That my eyes might miss
You dont have to know the words
To love's familiar tune
Say it with a kiss
And say it soon

Roman Holiday

Did you know that the "Roman Holiday"(1958), is the original American movie version of film "Youm men 3omri" (1960) :D ?
I just happened to know that a couple of days ago while watching the movie, almost the same except that this one got a better ending.

The Valkyries

"Faith is a difficult conquest, and it requires daily combat in order to be maintained."
...........
"One had only to believe that angels exist, only to need the angels.
And they would show themselves, as brilliant as the rays of morning.
And they would help, performing their task of protection and guidance, so that each generation would speak to the next of their presence - so that they would never be forgotten."

Even though i didn't really enjoy this book as much as i enjoyed Veronika decides to die, The devil and Mrs Prym, and The Alchemist, still you can never read something for Paulo Coelho without feeling that you've been to some inspiring journey :))

The Five People You Meet in Heaven

How do people choose their final words?
Do they realize their gravity?
Are they fated to be wise?

By his 83rd birthday, Eddie had lost nearly everyone he'd cared about. Some had died young, and some had been given a chance to grow old before a disease or an accident took them away. At their funerals, Eddie listened as mourners recalled their final conversations. "It's as if he knew he was going to die . . . . " some would say.

Eddie never believed that. As far as he could tell, when your time came, it came, and that was that. You might say something smart on your way out, but you might just as easily say something stupid.
For the record, Eddie's final words would be "Get back!"

Quote of the day -16-

"Ideally, what should be said to every child, repeatedly, throughout his or her school life is something like this:
'You are in the process of being indoctrinated.
We have not yet evolved a system of education that is not a system of indoctrination.
We are sorry, but it is the best we can do.
What you are being taught here is an amalgam of current prejudice and the choices of this particular culture.
The slightest look at history will show how impermanent these must be.
You are being taught by people who have been able to accommodate themselves to a regime of thought laid down by their predecessors.
It is a self-perpetuating system.
Those of you who are more robust and individual than others will be encouraged to leave and find ways of educating yourself — educating your own judgements.
Those that stay must remember, always, and all the time, that they are being moulded and patterned to fit into the narrow and particular needs of this particular society.' "

"If the world were merely seductive, that would be easy.

Yes Man!

Hey Carl...you wanna give your money away to some homeless guy? Yes, yes I do.
How about letting him use up the phone battery so that you can't get help when your car runs out of gas? You know what? That sounds like a fuckin' great idea!

(And that's a song i liked. Jim Carrey was singing it in the movie.)

Jumper - Third Eye Blind

I wish you would step back
From that ledge my friend
You could cut ties with all the lies
That you've been living in
And if you do not want to see me again
I would understand, I would understand
The angry boy a bit too insane
Icing over a secret pain
You know you don't belong
You're the first to fight
You're way too loud
You're the flash of light on a burial shroud
I know something's wrong
Well everyone I know has got a reason
To say put the past away

The Reason - Hoobastank

I'm not a perfect person
There's many things I wish I didn't do
But I continue learning
I never meant to do those things to you
And so I have to say before I go
That I just want you to know

I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
and the reason is you

I'm sorry that I hurt you
It's something I must live with every day
And all the pain I put you through
I wish that I could take it all away
And be the one who catches all your tears
That's why I need you to hear

I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
and the reason is you

I'm not a perfect person
I never meant to do those things to you
And so I have to say before I go
That I just want you to know

I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
and the reason is you

I've found a reason to show
A side of me you didn't know
A reason for all that I do
And the reason is you

Who Moved My Cheese?!

"As he started running down the dark corridor he began to smile. Haw didn't realize it yet, but he was discovering what nourished his soul. He was letting go and trusting what lay ahead for him, even though he did not know exactly what it was.
To his surprise, Haw started to enjoy himself more and more. "Why do I feel
so good?" he wondered. "I don't have any Cheese and I don't know where I am going."
Before long, he knew why he felt good.
He stopped to write again on the wall:
"When you stop being afraid, you feel good!"
"

A Thousand Miles - Vanessa Carlton

Making my way downtown
Walking fast
Faces pass
And I'm home bound

Staring blankly ahead
Just making my way
Making a way
Through the crowd

And I need you
And I miss you
And now I wonder....

If I could fall
Into the sky
Do you think time
Would pass me by
'Cause you know I'd walk
A thousand miles
If I could
Just see you
Tonight

It's always times like these
When I think of you
And I wonder
If you ever
Think of me

'Cause everything's so wrong
And I don't belong
Living in your
Precious memories

'Cause I need you
And I miss you
And now I wonder....

If I could fall
Into the sky
Do you think time
Would pass me by
'Cause you know I'd walk
A thousand miles
If I could
Just see you
Tonight

And I, I
Don't want to let you know
I, I
Drown in your memory
I, I
Don't want to let this go
I, I
Don't....

Making my way downtown
Walking fast
Faces pass
And I'm home bound

Staring blankly ahead
Just making my way
Making a way
Through the crowd

And I still need you
And I still miss you
And now I wonder....

If I could fall
Into the sky
Do you think time
Would pass us by
'Cause you know I'd walk
A thousand miles
If I could
Just see you...

If I could fall
Into the sky
Do you think time
Would pass me by
'Cause you know I'd walk
A thousand miles
If I could
Just see you
If I could
Just hold you
Tonight

Bella Notte - George Givot

Oh this is the night, it's a beautiful night
And we call it bella notte
Look at the skies, they have stars in their eyes
On this lovely bella notte.
Side by side with your loved one,
You'll find enchantment here.
The night will weave its magic spell,
When the one you love is near!
Oh this is the night, and the heavens are right!
On this lovely bella notte!

Miss Potter

Beatrix Potter: Stories don't always end where their authors intended. But there is joy in following them, wherever they take us.

Saturday, February 28, 2009

The Devil and Miss Prym

"Playing the part of a charitable soul was only for those who were afraid of taking a stand in life. It is always far easier to have faith in your own goodness than to confront others and fight for your rights. It is always easier to hear an insult and not retaliate than have the courage to fight back against someone stronger than yourself; we can always say we're not hurt by the stones others throw at us, and it's only at night - when we're alone and our wife or our husband or our school friend is asleep - that we can silently grieve over our own cowardice."

"There were two things that prevent us from achieving our dreams: believing them to be impossible or seeing those dreams made possible by some sudden turn of the wheel of fortune, when you least expected it. For at that moment, all your fears suddenly surface: the fear of setting off along a road heading who knows where, the fear of a life full of new challenges, the fear of losing forever everything that is familiar."

Moon River - Barbra Streisand

Moon river, wider than a mile
I'm crossing you in style
Some day
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker
Wherever you're going, I'm going your way

Two drifters, off to see the world
There's such a lot of world to see
We're after the same rainbow's end
Waiting round the bend
My huckleberry friend, moon river, and me

Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker
Wherever you're going, I'm going your way

Two drifters, off to see the world
There's such a lot of world to see
We're after that same rainbow's end,
Waiting round the bend
My huckleberry friend, moon river, and me

Breakfast at Tiffany's

Holly: You know those days when you get the mean reds?
Paul: The mean reds, you mean like the blues?
Holly: No. The blues are because you're getting fat and maybe it's been raining too long, you're just sad that's all. The mean reds are horrible. Suddenly you're afraid and you don't know what you're afraid of. Do you ever get that feeling?
Paul: Sure.
Holly: Well, when I get it the only thing that does any good is to jump in a cab and go to Tiffany's. Calms me down right away. The quietness and the proud look of it; nothing very bad could happen to you there. If I could find a real-life place that'd make me feel like Tiffany's, then...then I'd buy some furniture and give the cat a name!

The Magic of Touch

Touch can be life-giving. An impressive study on babies from ten weeks of age to six months, found that the offspring of mothers who were taught to stroke their babies had dramatically fewer colds and sniffles, and less vomiting and diarrhea than those whose mothers didn't stroke them. Other research found that women who were neurotic or depressed recovered much more quickly according to the number of time they were hugged, and the duration of those hugs. Anthropologist James Prescott, who pioneered the study of child-rearing and violence, found that societies in which children were rarely touched affectionately, had the highest rates of adult violence. Children brought up with affectionate carers usually ended up growing into better, healthier, and happier adults. Sex offenders and child molesters both tended to have pasts characterized by rejection, violence, a lack of cuddles as children, and childhoods, often spent in remote institutions. Many non-touching cultures love cats and dogs as they allow them to experience touch via stroking and patting their pets. Pet-patting therapy has proved to be a valuable way of helping people overcome depression and other mental problems.

As Time Goes By - Frank Sinatra

You must remember this
A kiss is still a kiss
A sigh is just a sigh
The fundamental things apply
As time goes by

And when two lovers woo
They still say: "i love you"
On that you can rely
No matter what the future brings
As time goes by

Moonlight and love songs never out of date
Hearts full of passion, jealousy and hate
Woman needs man and man must have his mate
That no one can deny

It's still the same old story
A fight for love and glory
A case of do or die
The world will always welcome lovers
As time goes by

After about 20 years of marriage, I'm finally starting to scratch the surface of that one [what women want]. And I think the answer lies somewhere between conversation and chocolate.

Waitress

I Hate My Husband Pie... You take bittersweet chocolate and don't sweeten it. You make it into a pudding and drown it in caramel

Dear Baby:
If I was writing you a letter, it would probably sounds something like an apology.

I know everyone deserves a mama who'd want a nice baby such as yourself...who was also a good wife, a fine member of a society.

And I can't rightly say that I'm any of that.

And I'm not sure the world is such a fine place to bringing you.

Many of the people I've met are not worth meeting.

Many of the things that happened are not worth living through.

And you shouldn't take it personal, Baby...if I don't seem like all the other mama-to-be, jumping all over themselves with joy.

I frankly don't know what I got to give you, Baby.

What if I leave Earl, and don't win that contest next week, and don't have money? What the hell am I gonna give you then?

All my life, Baby, the only thing I wanna do is run away. What kind of mama is that?

I wish I could think other things, Baby, like excitement that you with me now...or faith that I'll be a good mama...even if my life ain't such a good place, and the world as I see it ain't so pretty like they'd have you believe in this book.

Anyway, writing this letter to you, sounds more like a letter writing to me, don't it?

Love, Mama.

Sober - Pink

I don't wanna be the girl who laughs the loudest
Or the girl who never wants to be alone
I don't wanna be that call at 4 o'clock in the morning
'Cause I'm the only one you know in the world that won't be home

The sun is blinding
I stayed up again
Oh, I'm finding
That's not the way I want my story to end

I'm safe up high,
Nothing can touch me
Why do I feel this party's over?
No pain inside
You're my protection
But how do I feel this good sober?

I don't wanna be the girl that has to fill the silence..
The quiet scares me 'cause it screams the truth
Please don't tell me that we had that conversation
'Cause I won't remember, save your breath 'cause what's the use?

The night is calling
And it whispers to me softly, "come play"
I am falling
And if I let myself go, I'm the only one to blame

I'm safe up high,
Nothing can touch me
But why do I feel this party's over?
No pain inside
You're like perfection
But how do I feel this good sober?

Comin' down, comin' down, comin' down,
Spinnin' round, spinnin' round, spinnin' round
Looking for myself, Sober
Comin' down, comin' down, comin' down,
Spinnin' round, spinnin' round, spinnin' round
Looking for myself, Sober

When it's good, then it's good
It's all good 'till it goes bad
'Till you try to find the you that you once had
I have heard myself cry, never again!
Broken down in agony
Just trying to find a friend

I'm safe up high,
Nothing can touch me
Why do I feel this party's over?

No pain inside
You're like perfection
But how do I feel this good sober?

I'm safe up high, nothing can touch me
Why do I feel this party's over?
Why do I feel this party's over?

No pain inside, you're like perfection
But how do I feel this good sober?
Why do I feel this party's over?

Will I ever feel this good sober?

Sydney White

A modern retelling of snow white...Sydney White and the seven dorks!

Sydney White: Before all i wanted was to fit in! But I've learned that we're all searching to fit in! And we all feel like outsiders...and we all do things and feel things that are bizarre and unconventional and dorky...we're all dorks!!

"and we all lived dorkly ever after!!"
